Overview
SnapSave is a Chrome browser extension that helps users discover, preview, and download images from any web page. SnapSave does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. All processing happens locally inside your browser.
Data We Do NOT Collect
SnapSave does not collect:
- Your name, email address, or any account information
- Your browsing history or URLs of pages you visit
- Images you download or their contents
- Search queries or filter selections
- Crash reports or diagnostic telemetry
- IP addresses or device identifiers
Permissions and Why We Need Them

storage | Remember your own settings (theme, filters, full-resolution preference) on your device. Nothing is synced or uploaded. |
contextMenus | Add the right-click entries for scanning a page and saving a single image. |
sidePanel | Show the SnapSave interface in Chrome's native side panel. |
host_permissions: <all_urls> | Fetch image data from any site you choose to scan, including cross-origin CDN images with hotlink protection. Used only on pages where you actively run a scan. |
Third-Party Services
SnapSave uses no analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking services of any kind.
There is exactly one third-party service, and it is only contacted if you buy SnapSave Pro:
Gumroad (licence verification)
If you purchase Pro and enter a licence key, SnapSave sends that key and the
product identifier to Gumroad's public licence-verification API
(api.gumroad.com) to confirm the purchase is genuine. It does this once when
you activate, and at most once every 14 days afterwards to check the licence has not
been refunded.
- Only the licence key you typed in is sent. Nothing else.
- No personal information, browsing history, page URLs, or image data is included.
- If you do not buy Pro, this request never happens at all. The free version makes no third-party requests whatsoever.
- Gumroad's own privacy policy governs that request: gumroad.com/privacy
Licence keys issued directly by the developer are verified offline, on your own device, with no network request at all.
What Is Stored On Your Device
SnapSave saves a small amount of data using your browser's own storage. None of it leaves your device except as described above.
- Your settings (theme, filters, scan depth) — local browser storage
- Your Pro licence key, if you have one — Chrome sync storage, so Pro works on your other computers
- A count of images saved — local, used only to show the review prompt once
You can clear all of it at any time by removing the extension.
Network Requests
When you open the sidebar, SnapSave may fetch images from the page you are already viewing in order to generate thumbnails and enable downloads. These requests:
- Go directly to the image source server — the same server your browser already contacted to display the page
- Are not routed through any SnapSave server or proxy
- Carry your existing browser credentials (cookies, referrer) — no additional credentials are attached
Children's Privacy
SnapSave is a general-purpose tool and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through this extension, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete that information.
Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the extension after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of those changes.
